Hello All-
Here I sit in my new home away from home. Good news is…the chairs are great—they are heated and vibrate. ;-). Bad news- sitting in one place for eight (8) hours for a high energy person is tough.
But it’s what I need to do. And I’m ready and willing to do whatever it takes.
I had another reaction to the meds (irinotecan—nicknamed iri) but today we were ready for it and caught it early. Again, atropine and IV Benadryl helped immensely.
I also had a full house to keep me distracted and entertained even. Sitting in one corner— wearing “Fuck Cancer” hats and socks— were two of my oldest and dearest friends making totally inappropriate jokes and doing their best to keep me distracted from the toxic crap coursing through my body.
And in the other corner, coloring a page out of a penis coloring book (no lie, I can’t make this stuff up) was my lovely niece, Margot.
More good news….I continue to get great care. Dr. Brandt met with me first thing this morning and checked on me several times throughout the day. And Nurse Carei, and the rest of the nursing team, took great care of me and made me feel safe in their capable hands.
Tonight, I’ll once again go home with a pump to infuse yet another type of chemo, aptly nicknamed “5-FU” over the next 46 hours and will start the chemo recovery process all over again.
The social worker met with me today and asked if I had a good support system and I quickly responded, “absolutely.” From my mom, Andy and my kids to my brothers, nieces, friends and coworkers, I truly do feel very loved and supported am extremely grateful for that.

Wow, Angela – I am so sorry to hear this. It sounds like you have a great treatment plan and group of doctors and a super support system. I will be praying for you, your family and your doctors and will follow your journey. You are strong, brave and so loved – as so many others have said you’ve got this!!

It made me feel so good to see Ann and Katie there with you. No better way to start the “fuck cancer”party than with your besties. May the love from all who know and care about you carry you through this season.
