Here we go again….
So fortunate to have my favorite nurse Carei for what turned into the longest day yet. I was there from 8:30 to 5:30. Granted, I’m getting a lot of meds and time is to be expected. Each little hiccup added on time.
Joann picked me up this morning pre loaded with a bacon egg Gouda sandwich and a passion tea for me. So sweet. We head straight up to the Anderson Cancer Center to get this show on the road.
First vitals, including height and weight (guess I might shrink 🤷🏼♀️). Then to room 31, the warmest room, since the whole floor is set on arctic tundra❄️ No really, it’s extremely cold! This is why I arrive with long pant leopard pjs from Joann with snazzy fuzzy black slippers! TY Joann. Once settled in the room, Carei accessed my port with skill, but it was still painful. She started some IV Prevacid while we waited until my medical oncologist was available to see me, examine me, and give orders/clearance for chemo to commence. This is the process each week. If my labs are off, they may not let you have your round. So far my blood work has been pretty good.
Commence Chemo III
IV Palooza….
Prevacid
Steroids
Nausea med
My friend Beth arrived with delicious 3 natives wraps! Thank you, Beth!
Benadryl
Oxilaplatin
And then, another visitor…Surprise visit from childhood bestie, Ann, and her daughters Taylor and Riley. Always brightening my day! They brought snazzy new fuzzy slippers too!
( Shout out to Katie C for my beautiful blanket )
Then Mom arrives to be mom!
On with Chemo-palooza…
Atropine
Benadryl
Irinotecan
Leucovorin
At this point, I started to have another neuro reaction, with muscle spasms intermittently all over especially around my eyes and temples.
Then came, more Ativan
Finally, Carei set up the final chemo-5FU —which is packed in pump for home injection over the 46 hours. Yea me, I get to carry the pump everywhere.
Now I’m free until Friday at 11:30 am when I come back for more IV fun! Fluids, Iron, 5FU pump d/c, neulasta shot.
Thankful to be home now (mom drove me) where my sweet son had an Italian sub waiting just how I like it. I ate half. I’m exhausted and have to go to sleep!!!
I’m sure I’ve missed things! Ask any questions!
