SCANZIETY is a real thing. No matter how positive you are in thought and action, it’s impossible not to have some anxiety before each scan. Currently, I am on a routine to be scanned every three months alternating between PET and CT scans to watch for cancers return sneak attack!
Thanks to insurance (sarcasm) my PET scan would not be approved since my status is currently NED (No Evidence of Disease). It seems you must have active cancer to be approved for the scan you actually need to know if it’s returned. Ridiculous! So, we default to CT scans of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis with contrast.
Yesterday, my mom picked me up and we drove to Jupiter Medical Center where I drank this disgusting media (if you know, you know ), Waited for an eternity, had my port accessed in preparation to administer the contrast (yes my port is still in, I hope to have it out sometime this year if scans remain positive), and off to scans which is the quickest and easiest part of the whole process. We finished around 3:00pm, not early enough for my scans to be read the same day. So, The wait for results begins…
Luckily, we had a family dinner planned which helped keep my mind off of the wait! A blessing to have all of our children and both of our moms in one place!
8:02am this morning text from my awesome medical oncologist here in Jupiter, Dr Debra Brandt.
Did you read it? NO EVIDENCE OF METASTATIC DISEASE! Whoop whoop!! All clear !!
See you all in three months for new scans and a liver follow up.
Thank you SOO very much to each and everyone of you who have been praying for me! It’s working, so don’t stop!
PS Have you gotten your colonoscopy yet??? What are you waiting for? Time is everything, in every sense of the word…
Angela

What a great blessing. Love the way you catalog and share this personal journey – it’s truly inspiring, and helps people like me remain connected and engaged if only in a little way. I’m so proud of the way you’ve handled this, and so very happy that those that love you get to have you around longer. Hope to make a trip to FLA to visit and celebrate these victories in person (and maybe have a little fun too!). Happy 2023…!! Make it a great one – and keep kicking cancer’s ass.
