Merry Christmas

Posted on December 30, 2021December 30, 2021 by admin

Who knew they had pet therapy too! Chemo #13 on Dec 15th (minus the oxilaplatin) went off without a hitch. Delivered holiday goodies to all the nurses (really 😇 angels) Joann drove me and stayed thru lunch.

My mom took over and for my ride home. In the meantime Diane came for a quick visit since she was already nearby. Sorry no pic of visit.I was sleepy and loopy from the IV Ativan at this point.

FOUR MORE they said!

So December 29th was number four! (14 total if you are counting and you can bet I am!) Mom arrived almost on time and I was almost ready. This is typical for our family.

We made it on time but everything at the hospital ran behind, mostly due to our nationwide staffing shortages. First thing, a nurse always draws my blood to get fresh lab results. These are required for my medical oncologist to review and approve and then in turn order the chemo meds. The pharmacy at the hospital does not prepare any chemo meds in advance. This is to prevent them from being wasted if your bloodwork showed a reason you weren’t a candidate that day for treatment. Makes sense, but is time consuming. Add to that staff shortages in the lab. You can see where I’m going with this.

For those who are following my CEA (a cancer marker found in your blood), this week I am 8.6. It has been steadily dropping from a high of 343. Normal is 3.0 or less. Ven with the big drop, anything over 3.0 is bad.

Still it was a good day, good time for me and my mom to catch up. We always chat with the nurses and with our favorite volunteers. Nikki planned to come by. Her timing was perfect so she could be our Delivery girl and bring lunch to us LOL! Once again mom treated and we had pizza from Angelo’s. Angelo’s is an amazing individually owned restaurant on Tony Penna Drive in Jupiter. if you haven’t been there, you should go. Support local and it’s delicious!

Sunday night Andy and I will head out to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa to be ready for a full day of blood work, CT scans, and doctor appointments. Most importantly to meet with the liver surgeon, Dr Anaya, and to see exactly what the best surgical plan is. God willing my tumors have shrunk in all the right places.

Please continue to pray for me for COMPLETE healing. With God’s grace and all of your support we will somehow get thru this.

GET YOUR COLONOSCOPY
There is no excuse. If you are 45 or older your insurance should cover it. If you have questions, send me a PM. I am SOO Happy for those of you that have now had the procedure and were either clear or had your polyps removed! Do NOT be me! This is completely preventable! Do not wait. It doesn’t only run in families. More and more it is environmental.

Love you all! Hope you had a Very Merry Christmas and I wish you the Happiest New Year! 💕💕

    Dearest Angela,
I have to tell you that I laughed out loud when I read, “Mom arrived almost on time and I was almost ready. “ 😁 There’s something comforting about those traits of ours that seem to persist over time. Of course, one of the very best things that persists over time is friendship! What a thrill it was to open my email this morning and see the pic of you & Nikki (“Hi, Nikki!” ❤️)!
I’m so happy to see how much love and support you have surrounding you through all of this. You can count on me as one of your tribe of supporters, following your progress and praying for you and your doctors.
May God bless you and heal you in the New Year!
    💙
